During its heyday the Yuan dynasty, founded by Kublai Khan, fostered trade and travel, leading to what has been termed "the greatest expansion of commerce in Eurasian history." This was the era of the great Venetian traveller, Marco Polo(1254-1324). Travelling overland or by ship, Arabian, Persian, Indian, and European traders took with them horses, carpets, gems, and spices, which they exchanged for ceramics, lacquerware, and silk.

In 1492, Christopher Columbus, with a copy of Marco Polo's travels in hand, sailed westward from Europe, hoping to re-establish trading contact with the Mongol court. He was, however, unaware that the empire had ceased to exist more than a century earlier! Its fall had caused a collapse of communications , and the Muslims barred use of the land route from Europe to the East.

The Moses Code - a new truth or recycled deception...

I must say I had never heard of the Moses Code until reading the latest copy of THE GOOD NEWS. There is a new book, a DVD and a movie all of which claim the Moses Code promises the power to transform the world through a secret method supposedly revealed to Moses. But what is the story behind this revealed secret - The Law of Attraction?

On the cover of the newest New Age best seller THE MOSES CODE, author and movie producer James Twyman promises to reveal the secret for the "most powerful manifestation tool in the history of the world". Thats a huge claim!

Thirty five hunded years ago this technology was allegedly used to create some of the most incredible miracles the world has ever seen. Now you can allegedly use this secret - the Moses Code - to help manifest a new world yourself. The new movie "The Moses Code" will teach you how to use the Law of Attraction.

This big secret is allegedly "an ancient technique that has existed in the world for more than 3500 years, but was hidden away long ago because authorities decided it was too powerful to be arbitarily wielded." I bet it was!

So therefore the authors of the Bible - 'The Truth' - arbitarily decided it should not be included in the word of God. Other spiritual leaders who had evolved to the point of understanding the 'Code' and practised it, and had extraordinary results with it, including Jesus Christ,didn't want it passed on; and as a consequence it wasn't included in the New Testament either. Extraordinary indeed!

The Moses Code

Today the story is allegedly different - mankind is undergoing a spiritual revolution. For the first time in our history man is realising his true potential. Really?

The Moses Code is made up of two words: I Am. The letters indicate that man is the ruler of his own destiny; I Am means that a human being is one with God and has the power to manifest miracles previously thought impossible.

It believes that we all have a part of God or the Supreme Being in us. We can, therefore,manifest what we want in our lives.

The following is an extremely interesting article in our local daily newspaper, The Dominion Post, Wellington, New Zealand:

Dying might seem like the ultimate way to reduce one's carbon footprint, but a new approach to to being buried could breathe life into the environment.

New Zealand's first 'natural' burial took place yesterday( May 3 2008) at the cemetery grounds in Makara.

The body was not embalmed but placed in an untreated wooden casket, then buried to about half the normal depth of a traditional grave. As it iscloser to active soil, the body could decompose within five years - three times faster than normal.

Research by by Natural Burials, a non-profit organisation, suggests that more than one - third of Wellingtonians would consider the burial technique. About 100 people had already registered.

"Many people find the idea of lying in peace in a native forest and contributing to the creation of the forest through the death process process very comforting and satisfying. There's no risk or weirdness to it," founder Mark Blackham said.

It took Mr Blackham about eight years to get from the planning stage to yesterday's burial as the local Wellington City council's officials had been concerned about animals digging up the graves and creating possible health problems.

It is an an idea that may grow in time. There is something peaceful about becoming part of a forest in a 'natural' sense. It could catch on!

The virus that reportedly caused the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic which killed more people than during World War 1, was apparently so deadly because it triggered an uncontrolled immune system response in victims, scientists have reported in the journal NATURE.

About 50 million people died in the 1918 pandemic. By infecting macaque monkeys with a reconstructed version of the virus, an international team of researchers discovered the virus replicated quickly and unleashed an excessive immune system response in the macaque that destroyed their lungs in days.

Scientific analysis is fine, even to retrospectively discover historical causes, but what happens if this gets out of the laboratory? I believe that research involving monkeys jumped the species divide and ultimately caused HIV - Aids!

Two Anzac soldiers on guard at the bridge - Part 2...

This is a follow up to an earlier story of mine about the addition of a statue of a Kiwi soldier to join his Digger mate on Anzac Bridge in Sydney, Australia.

There is a humorous twist to the tale regarding recent comments from the sculptor, Alan Somerville. He said with a grin, he hasn't forgotten his New Zealad origins and as a consequence he will make the Kiwi soldier 5cm or two inches taller than his Digger mate.

Eight years afer the four metre high statue of the Australian World War 1 soldier was revealed, he will be joined by a Kiwi mate on guard at the bridge.

On April 27 2008,two days after Anzac Day,NZ Prime Minister Helen Clark and New South Wales Premier Morris Iemma will unveil Dunedin born sculptor Alan Somerville's work. Someville emigrated to Australia in 1988.

The two soldiers will face each other across the bridge and will be distinguished by their hats - the "lemon squeezer" of the Kiwi, and the Aussie in his famed slouch hat. A jar of sand from Gallipoli will be placed inside the plinth where the Kiwi soldier stands.
