Here is a news story from New Zealand with some real human interest:

From the local papers to the big screen - Duncan Evenson and his motorised shopping trolley are on the path to stardom.

Media worldwide are clamouring for a piece of the 19-year-old mechanic and his motorised cage, among them an American producer who wants him to appear in a feature film.

It's been a hectic 48 hours since Evenson first hit the Manawatu Standard front page with his home-built machine on Monday.

He has been interviewed on radio and television and was today set to do a photo shoot with an Australian news agency.

The three anti-Christs - you either believe or disbelieve...

Some people believe and some don't believe in the three anti-Christs. I just write about them and leave the readers to make up their minds...

The third Antichrist:

To achieve the tremendous impact the first two antichrists have had (if we accept that they where Hitler and Napoleon), a number of circumstances needed to be accomplished. Firstly the antichrists represented world powers and were able to motivate and inspire a large number of followers. Both Hitler and Napoleon were leaders of the most powerful nations at their time. They had the will and the means to achieve their goals no matter the cost and the consequences. They were able to sell their ideas to their followers and convince whole nations to participate in their plans.

The political and economic circumstances needed firm and resolute actions. The antichrists brought hope and strength. It was the objection by other nations that finally set off the slaughter between mankind. The cost and the consequences were large-scale death, destruction and suffering for France, Europe and the world in general.

It seems logical that the third antichrist will fit in, in that same way.

NZ youngster towers over his classmates - one of many side effects of the cancerous tumor in his head...

New Zealand youngster James Locke towers over his classmates - one of many side effects of the cancerous tumor in his head.

James has grown 1.5 centimeters and put on a kilo in a month this year. Doctors say the tumor, which sits near his hormone - secreting pituitary gland, is playing havoc with his hormones and causing his unusual growth pattern.

He is also in the early stages of precocious puberty - at just seven years of age - and his body is preparing for adulthood.

His parents haven't discussed this with him yet, but he will have to endure monthly injections if the full onset of puberty is to be postponed.

After 19 cycles of chemo therapy the youngster simply dreads the needles.

In some ways James has missed out on his boyhood; he is much more mature and wordly than his eight year old 'big brother' Jonathan.

It is now nearly four years since an MRI scan revealed the cancerous tumor in his head. His regular trips to Wellington from Palmerston North ninety miles away has prevented him from bonding with his classmates.

Another MRI scan in six months time will reveal whether the tumor is in remission or whether he will have to continue with his chemotherapy.

Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe - Number 7 on the dictator's list...

Robert Mugabe - No 7 on the list of the world's worst dictators...

Robert Mugabe
Zimbabwe.
Age 82.
In power since 1980.
Last year’s rank: 4

Robert Mugabe once was hailed as a symbol of the new Africa, but under his rule the health and well-being of his people have dropped dramatically, which is as much an abuse of human rights as arbitrary arrest and torture. According to the World Health Organization, Zimbabwe has the world’s shortest life expectancy—37 years for men and 34 for women. It also has the greatest percentage of orphans (about 25%, says UNICEF) and the worst annual inflation rate (1,281% as of last month). He last allowed an election in 2002 but “won” only after having his leading opponent arrested for treason.

He has lost the latest eletion, 2008, but has not yet conceded the result.
